Book Bingo
The West Duluth Library is hosting themed Book Bingo events suitable for all ages. Bingo numbers have been replaced with book covers or pictures, with the opportunity to win free books. The theme for August is "Animals."

The Duluth Public Library welcomes Shawn Bernhardt, a local educator and mushroom-grower, to present a workshop on growing shiitake mushrooms at home. Bernhardt will demonstrate how to start a mushroom log, outline the supplies needed and speak on growing conditions and best harvesting practices. Participants will not receive a mushroom log from this event. Registration (required) and event details can be found on Facebook and the DPL event calendar.

Outdoor Fun Day
The West Duluth Branch Library is throwing a party in its backyard. Activities include ladder toss, ring toss, lawn darts, horse shoes and some water games to beat the heat. In the event of rain, activities will be moved indoors. All ages are welcome.

Slow Sewing: English Paper Piecing Class
English Paper Piecing is a method of hand sewing which enables quilting without a machine and taking projects on the go. Participants will learn how to sew a mat or coaster to take home. All fabric and notions are provided, but participants may bring their own materials (two fat quarters different fabric). Suitable for teens, adults and seniors. Registration is required and can be done here.

Celebrate the New Year early with a special storytime at the West Duluth Branch Library. Stories and songs will be all about ringing in a new year, and there will be a balloon drop! For children ages birth to pre-k.

The sticker fun continues at the West Duluth Branch Library! Bring stickers to share and browse the library's collection of stickers to decorate your own personal sticker journal. Previous Sticker Palooza attendees are encouraged to bring their journals to decorate new pages. Sticker Palooza will be in the Evergreen Conference Room.

Memoir-Writing Workshop
Participants will have a chance to write their life story in this two-part workshop led by UW-Superior's Deb Faul. The first session will instruct participants on how to get started and the second session will focus on the organization and polishing of writing. The use of personal laptops is encouraged.
