University Recital Series: Steven Siegel
The trumpet player shares the stage with seven other musicians, including Hector Landa, Brett Jones, Greg Kehl Moore, Vicki Fingalson, Jeff Madison, Erin Aldridge and Derek Bromme. Siegel will perform a variety of music ranging from the Baroque era to today. The repertoire will include everything from classical to jazz to what Siegel calls “ambient space music.” The evening will also feature several pieces with electronic accompaniment and one piece with an accompanying video.

In Concert: Stas Venglevski, Derek Bromme and Brett Jones
Three musicians will perform in concert: Stas Venglevski on accordion, Derek Bromme on tuba and Brett Jones on percussion. The hour-long program includes the world premiere of “Footprints” by Mayako Kubo, written for accordion solo and dedicated to Stas Venglevski; “Witch of November” by Ian Deterling for tuba and marimba; and music by Johann Sebastian Bach, William Susman, Astor Piazzolla, Nikita Mndoyants and Stas Venglevski.

UW-Superior Band and Orchestra Concert
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Symphonic Band, under the direction of Steven Siegel, along with the Chamber Strings, under the direction of Erin Aldridge, will join forces for a concert. Featuring a variety of genres and styles, the concert will include composers such as Grainger, Copland, Coleridge-Taylor, Shostakovich, Hazo, Sheldon, Meechan and Nishimura. Lydia Thering and Joan Hedrick Lecture Series: Chamique Holdsclaw and Clint Malarchuk
WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw and NHL goaltender Clint Malarchuk will speak about their personal struggles with mental health and wellbeing, and what they have learned along the way to benefit others. A Q&A and meet/greet session will follow, along with a Mental Health Resource Fair featuring local organizations. Refreshments will be provided. The UW_Superior Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble performance will feature two Caribbean-style steel drum ensemble pieces by Texas-based composer, CJ Menje. Other pieces will include a traditional Mexican marimba ensemble piece “Las Tripas,” music from Ghana as preparation for the Music Department’s upcoming trip to Ghana in January, “Metallic Lullaby” by Eric Peel, and a large percussion ensemble composition exploring various percussive sounds and timbre written by Jones entitled “Water Nymphs.”

The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents Hector Landa, assistant professor of piano, for its University Recital Series. The program begins with Mexican music, featuring the works of a diverse group of composers. Landa presents a composition written by French composer Luc Ferrari, a suite of 36 miniatures written for piano and a recorded track. Taiko Arts Midwest at UW-Superior
The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host the Japanese drum group, Taiko Arts Midwest, for a free workshop and performance for the campus and community. The workshop will run from 4 to 5 p.m. and will be followed by a performance at 6 p.m. Taiko is the Japanese word for drum and refers to the modern style of playing. The high-energy performance art combines music, dance, martial arts, athletics and culture.

Music of Terezin: Hope and Resistance
This concert is centered around music composed in the Terezin Concentration Camp during the Holocaust. The performance will feature works by Pavel Haas and Gideon Klein, two composers who were interred in Terezin and later killed.
