Lakewalk Clean Up
Friends of the Lakewalk invite volunteers to help clean up the Duluth Lakewalk from 43rd Avenue East to Kitchi Gammi Park. The group will meet at the Lakewalk Lester River Bridge, located at East Superior Street at the junction of South 61st Avenue East and Lester River Road. Adjacent parking is available. Extra parking is at the Lester Park parking lot, which has Lakewalk connector access. For more information visit friendsofthelakewalk.org.

Law Day 5K 2022
A fundraiser to support the work of the team at Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota (LASNEM). The 5K will begin and end at Lester Park Trails and Playground in Duluth. The course follows Lester River Road and returns to Lester Park for a post-race gathering with refreshments and tours of LASNEM's Justice Bus. Registration includes a Law Day 5K t-shirt. Those who can't join in person can still participate in the event by selecting the virtual option.

Afternoon Sketching in Lester Park with Tea and Cookies
Recent Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art graduate Jake Tremble invites the public to an outdoor sketching session in Lester Park. There will be a small table with drawing supplies, but participants should feel free bring their own. The plan is to draw for an hour and a half or so depending on weather. Flycasting Clinic
The Gitchee Gumee chapter of Trout Unlimited is providing its expertise to lead free flycasting clinics in different Duluth parks this summer. This is an opportunity for community members to learn about the basic equipment and casting skills involved in fly fishing. Join the Duluth Public Library for a book discussion in one of Duluth’s beautiful parks, followed by a low-impact hike led by Parks and Recreation. We will meet at Overhang area at Lester Park for July’s book selection, The Wolf's Trail by Thomas D. Peacock. This book tells the story of the Ojibwe people through the eyes of an elder wolf.

This 2-hour clinic will focus on how to safely maintain speed through endurance specific trail, including high speed and low speed cornering, braking, and acceleration techniques. Part of this clinic will take place on the green River Trail to give riders a head start if they plan to join the FTW Enduro Race at 6 p.m. The instructor is Tiffany Kari Cizmas and the cost is $40.

Duluth Parks and Rec will lead a hiking group for adults ages 55+. There will be a chance to explore a new trail each Monday evening throughout the summer. Hikes vary in difficulty. Lester River Rendezvous 2023
The 24th annual Lester River Rendezvous celebrates the lifestyles and folkways of the Voyageurs in Minnesota.
