“Secrets of Being Black: Duluth Edition” Screening & Discussion
The University of Minnesota Duluth College of Liberal Arts Change Team is sponsoring a screening of The Secrets of Being Black: Duluth Edition in Montague 80. Following the film there will be a discussion with Classie Dudley, one of the producers. Bagley 5K (Walk for Wishes)
The Walk for Wishes 5K through Bagley Nature Area is raising funds to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event is being hosted in partnership with the University of Minnesota-Duluth athletic department. Participants must register online at walkforwishes.com by Sept. 23 to guarantee a t-shirt. Registration is $15 for UMD students and $20 for community members. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.

UMD Open Studio
Open Studio is an open-door community event that shows what the University of Minnesota Duluth's School of Fine Arts & Design has to offer. The event takes place in Art & Design classrooms and art studios on campus. There will be hands-on activities like print-making, bead-making, wheel-throwing, photography, animation, letter-block stamping, drawing and more. All areas will be represented, including studio art, art history, and design. There will be giveaways and a selfie station.

The Providers Film Screening

Visual Culture Lecture Series: Michael Barnes
Michael Barnes developed a passion for the medium of lithography during his graduate studies at Iowa and has focused on this process for much of his work since. Barnes now resides in St. Charles, Illinois and is a professor of printmaking at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Herbarium Tour and Plant-Mounting Workshop
The Arrowhead Native Plant Explorers tour the Olga Lakela Herbarium at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Following the Herbarium tour at noon, they will meet at the Bagley classroom for a herbarium specimen-mounting workshop.
