Understanding the Impact of Cutting SNAP Benefits
Zeitgeist Arts and Hunger Solutions host a panel discussion on the importance to families in need of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as “food stamps”) and on what can be done to preserve the program. Hunger relief experts and SNAP beneficiaries will discuss the impacts of the proposed cuts to key federal safety net programs including SNAP to our neighbors and our local network of food shelves. This month's TED at the Teatro explores creativity. Local band Superior Siren kicks off the evening with a few songs. State School Kid: a Documentary by Toby Thomas Churchill is a short film that chronicles the life of Don Sundeen. Don is an acclaimed artist that grew up in an institutional setting. His experience was documented in a series of paintings which, along with short stories, comprised a published book. State School Kid follows Don as he travels back to Owatonna, touring the place he grew up and seeing his art at in a gallery at the former school building.

In Tandem is an evening of art inspired by a single short story. For In Tandem Volume III, artists created works of art inspired by Tina Higgins Wussow's short story "Featuring Acorns." One Less Guest, Mama's Stolen Horses and George Ellsworth will perform music.
