DSSO Masterworks 2: Price & Mozart
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra presents works by Florence Price and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Jacques Ibert wrote his Hommage à Mozart to celebrate the 200th birthday of the great composer. This energetic piece goes hand in hand with the master’s own Symphony No. 36, written for the Austrian city of Linz. Sanctus Series A Percussion and Friends Concert
Dr. Brett Jones, Rachael Kresha, Zoe Scherer and more kick off the first concert of the Sanctus Series. Selections range from the simple grounded prayer of "Ringing in the Fields" by Urmas Sisask to the celestial sounds of "Song of the Angel" by John Tavener. Featuring collaborations with family and friends, Brett Jones ties together original works, new arrangements, and a world premiere. Free will offerings are accepted while entering the event.

Big Time Jazz Orchestra
The finest professional big band musicians from the greater region will be playing swing, Latin American, ballad, hip hop, and soundscape stylings from numerous bands. Compositions include works from Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Maria Schneider, Oliver Nelson, Radiohead, and Horace Silver. All proceeds go to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart of Jesus Conference, Superior. The concert will be held in the lower-level Kress Hall.

Sanctus Series Brass Quintet Concert
Dr. Steven Siegal leads the Brass Quintet ensemble in a program that will include music from the Baroque and Classical eras that were originally used in sacred spaces. Antiphonal effect and various sonorities from the ensemble will captivate the audience. Works will include famous brass composers such as Samuel Scheidt, Giovanni Gabrielli and others. The second concert for the Sanctus series will feature The Great Advent Antiphons, hymns, and poetry. Sanctus Series: Quartet for the End of Time
Olivier Messiaen composed this historic and iconic work while he was imprisoned at a German work camp during World War II. Using the musicians and instruments at hand, Messiaen a Catholic mystic composed what he thought would be his final piece. It was performed for the first time in the camp for the guards and prisoners. Sanctus Series: The Rosary Sonatas
Erin Aldridge, violinist, and Rachael Kresha, organist, perform three of Heinrich Biber's Rosary Sonatas that tell the story of Jesus's crown of thorns, carrying the cross, and crucifixion. These sonatas were completed around 1676, but were published in the 19th century. The works feature violin solos accompanied by organ continuo. Freewill offerings are accepted at the event, but are not required.
