Wiki Edit-A-Thon for Arts and Equality

Mar 5, 2017, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm | Free | Duluth Art Institute at Lincoln Park

Event Navigation

The public is invited to join an afternoon of communal Wikipedia editing related to contemporary art and feminism. The objective is to combat Wikipedia’s gender gap by improving coverage of women in the arts. The Art+Feminism organization has been organizing these events since 2014 and have hosted 140 across the globe, including in the Twin Cities via the Walker Art Center. This will be the first session to be held publicly in Duluth, with a focus on women artists, as well as artists of color and those from traditionally marginalized communities. The DAI will have two iPads available for use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops and ideas for entries. The event is open to all genders, ages and abilities and no Wikipedia editing experience is necessary. UMD professor Dr. Jamie Ratliff will provide a free tutorial and reference materials and free Wi-Fi will also be available.
