Walk for Animals 2021
The 28th annual Animal Allies Humane Society Walk for Animals helps raise money for homeless pets.
The event takes place at Leif Erikson Park and along the Duluth Lakewalk. Pet-lovers interested in participating should register by going to animalallies.net and clicking on the Walk for Animals link. The walk is a vital fundraiser for Animal Allies and participants are encouraged to gather donations to help save the lives of pets.
This year’s walk features the Rambler food truck, Crank & Dasher ice cream cart and live music by Hodag & Hooch. The event is free; people wishing to do the 2-mile walk can register early online or the day of at Leif Erikson Park from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Youth Allies is hosting a tent for kids to color, craft and tattoo, along with some humane education activities. Pet contests and the pet agility course have long been staples of the event, but attendees will need to get there early to participate. The agility course will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and the pet contests start after the official welcome at 5:10.
Vendors will also be on site as well as the Animal Allies’ new transport van where attendees can get their pets microchipped from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The walk itself begins at 6:30 and will be conducted in wave starts. Wave groups of 25 to 40 walkers will start north up the Lakewalk every two minutes.
Fundraising supports Animal Allies’ adoption, spay and neuter, and humane education programming to provide care for homeless pets in need.
