Virtual Meeting on New Keene Creek Playground Design
Duluth’s Parks and Recreation division hosts this virtual public meeting to review the proposed new design of Keene Creek Park playground in West Duluth. The existing playground has passed its useful lifespan and does not meet accessible surface guidelines. The proposed model incorporates new inclusive play elements.

The playground is one element of a larger 2020 Improvement Plan for the park. Other improvements include accessibility upgrades, dog park improvements, trail resurfacing and realigning, and the addition of a new bicycle pump track. The city is proceeding with these improvements at Keene Creek Park thanks to the support of federal grant funds and half-and-half tourism tax funds as part of the larger St. Louis River Corridor Initiative.
In 2016, the City Council approved the Keene Creek Park Mini-Master Plan, which outlines both short-term and long-term improvements to the park and acts as a guiding document for both the city and community partners. More information about the plan can be found at duluthmn.gov.
