United Way Chili Cook-Off 2019
Head of the Lakes United Way hosts its 28th annual Chili Cook-Off, where up to 50 entrants compete for awards. Nearly 2,000 people attend this event each year.
Professional judges taste each entry and vote on aroma, taste, texture, after-taste and visual appearance. They determine the awards of Hottest-Yet-Edible, Most Unique, Vegetarian, and First, Second and Third Place for professional and amateur divisions. In addition, community attendees taste and vote on their favorites in terms of “People’s Choice” (favorite chili recipe) and “Best Spirit” (most festively decorated booth). In the past, entries have included meat or vegetarian, mild or hot, traditional or unique, and even sweet or savory.
Tickets are available at the door and in advance online for $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and free from kids under 5. All proceeds will benefit more than 70 local programs to improve the lives of people living in the community.
