Twin Ports Thanksgiving Buffet 2018
The 29th annual Twin Ports Thanksgiving Buffet, produced by Twin Ports community volunteers and the College of St. Scholastica, offers attendees a free turkey dinner with all the trimmings in the Edmund Fitzgerald Exhibit Hall of the DECC’s City Side Convention Center.
More than 5,000 meals will be served at the DECC and more than 1,200 more through deliveries to home-bound residents. The community is invited to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with roasted turkey, potatoes, gravy and dinner rolls.
Homebound residents in the Duluth, Two Harbors or Cloquet areas who would like to request a home delivery meal can call 218-723-6484. Requests must be received by noon on Friday, Nov. 16.
Free transportation to the DECC will be provided by the Duluth Transit Authority. Turkey Bus 1 and Turkey Bus 2 will transport passengers to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center from selected sites throughout the Twin Ports. Look for Turkey Bus 1 and Turkey Bus 2 in the destination signs to distinguish this special shuttle service from regular-route buses.
The special shuttles will operate between the DECC and the Duluth Transportation Center and other Duluth sites including the Domiano Center and CHUM. In Superior, shuttles will operate from the Royalton Manor, 14th and Tower Avenue, Clifford Lund Residence and Solid Rock Mission. Visit duluthtransit.com or call 218-722-7283 for shuttle schedule information.
The event will also feature a children’s craft corner, books for kids, and a visit from Santa.
This year, volunteers expect to serve 2,200 pounds of turkey, 1,850 pounds of mashed potatoes, 6,000 rolls and bars and 150 gallons of gravy. Remaining food from the buffet will go to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
Monetary donations are welcome. Mail checks to: The College of St. Scholastica, attn: Thanksgiving Buffet, 1200 Kenwood Ave., Duluth MN 55811.
