“The Two Trees: A Yeats Song Cycle” Album Release Concert

Composer/pianist Wendy Durrwachter and tenor Adam Sippola release their album The Two Trees: A Yeats Song Cycle during this performance.

This contemporary classical music album was recorded at Weber Music Hall in June 2019 by Don Schraufnagel and contains original compositions by Durrwachter, performed by Sippola and Durrwachter. The text consists of ten poems by William Butler Yeats listed below:

Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students at the door.

Durrwachter received a Bachelor of Arts focused on piano and composition from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She received an ARAC Career Development Grant in January 2019 to compose a wind quintet for the UMD Faculty Wind Quintet to be performed in 2020.

Sippola sings tenor with the Twin Ports Choral Project. Musical theater roles in the region include Jean Valjean in Lés Misérables at Symphony Hall, Phantom in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber at the NorShor Theatre, Leo Frank in Parade at Renegade Theater, and Sweeney in Sweeney Todd at the Playground.

Born in Ireland in 1865, William Butler Yeats published his first works in the mid-1880s. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. Yeats, who died in 1939, is remembered as one of the leading Western poets of the 20th century.
