Superior Speaker Series: Sturgeon in Wisconsin

Tue, Feb 13, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm | Free | Lake Superior Estuarium

Event Navigation

Paul Piszczek, Wisconsin DNR Fisheries biologist, will talk about sturgeon in the St. Louis River and Estuary.

Wisconsin and Minnesota DNR staff have worked together to stock and study sturgeon in the St. Louis River. These ancient fish can live more than 100 years and are highly dependent on good water quality to survive. Recent successes in establishing sturgeon in the region speaks to the ongoing efforts to restore the estuary. Piszczek will weave together a story of history, general biology and ecology, research, fisheries management, and Lake Superior … all via sturgeon. Light refreshments will be served.
