St. David’s Day Open Reading 2019
The 23rd annual St. David’s Day Open Reading honors the 899th anniversary of the canonization of St. David, the patron saint of Wales. Poets of all skill levels, from novice writers to those with established reputations, are invited to read a single original poem and/or a favorite piece by another author.
The event is an designed to showcase the variety of voices in the region and kiss the worst of winter goodbye. The first half of the evening is devoted to original work, the second half to favorite poems by other authors. Readers must limit themselves to three minutes in order to give equal time to everyone. Readers are urged to sign up at the start of the event.
As in years past, a group of judges selected from the audience will select the best work of original poetry and award its author with the leek-legged poetry chair.
