Saint Fennessy 4K 2019
The sixth running of the Saint Fennessy 4K in Hermantown – organized by Grandma’s Marathon – is an untimed fun run and serves as a fundraiser for the Young Athletes Foundation.
The event is limited to the first 500 participants. The pre-registration entry fee is $30; race-day registration is $35. Registration for children ages 6 to 14 is $10. All participants will receive a branded knit hat and knit gloves. All net proceeds benefit the YAF, a Grandma’s Marathon program that focuses on the promotion and development of youth athletics throughout Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Lake and St. Louis Counties.
The race will begin at Hermantown High School, travel along Arrowhead and Lavaque Roads and finish near McKenzie’s Bar & Grill in the Hermantown Square. There will be a post-race celebration at McKenzie’s.
Prizes will be awarded for the best St. Patrick’s Day attire at the post-race party. Shuttle bus service will be available free of charge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those wanting transportation between the finish area and Hermantown High School after the event.
The Saint Fennessy 4K was created in honor of longtime Grandma’s Marathon friend Don Fennessy, who passed away in 2011. Fennessy was an original member of both the Grandma’s Marathon board of directors and Young Athletes Foundation committee, and was inducted into the Grandma’s Marathon Hall of Fame in 2004. His wife Ella, who was also well known in the Twin Ports running community, passed away in 2013.
