Event Navigation

Rubber Chicken Theater‘s 11th annual holiday revue features original comedy sketches poking fun at local, regional and national issues. There will also be beer, wine and revue-themed drinks available from the Boat Club Restaurant. (The show is more entertaining after a couple of Smashed Lakewalks.)

The local theater group has been writing and performing sketch comedy revues since its inception in 2008. Revues are like local versions of Saturday Night Live and come from a long theatrical tradition started by that wacky Greek playwright Aristophanes.

Some of the topics tackled in Storm Wars: The Rise of Lakewalker include the game show Who Wants to be a Minnesotan?, a visit to the Catalyst Content Festival from a couple of the world’s original content creators, and a spectacular soggy ending to the saga of Jedi Mayor Emily Lakewalker as she battles the evil, wet forces of Dark Wader.

Storm Wars: The Rise of Lakewalker is directed by Rubber Chicken’s co-founder Brian Matuszak, and features the onstage talents of Jeremy Churchill, Maria Lockwood, Taylor Martin-Romme, Nathan Payne, Kaylee Matuszak and Chris Nollet, along with revue newcomers Kyleigh Grimsbo and Ben Churchill. Jadie Schwarzkopf and Madison Grimsbo handle the technical elements and Linda Bray is the piano accompanist.

Rubber Chicken gaurantees this year’s revue will be “so entertaining the DNT theater reviewer will stay for nearly 3/4 of the show!”

Performances are Dec. 27-28 at 7:30 p.m.
