Red Cliff Days 2016
An event every day that begins at 8:00 am, repeating until Sep 5, 2016
The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians will celebrate the inaugural Red Cliff Days Sept. 1-5 in Red Cliff, Wis.
The event begins with an opening ceremony performed by the local Red Cliff VFW and kicks-off five full days of family oriented activities and entertainment, all highlighting the Red Cliff community’s history and culture.
In addition to a full carnival midway and both craft and food concessions, there will be arts and crafts workshops, Native American cultural song and dance exhibitions, games, kid’s bounce house, live music, farmers market, an adult and youth basketball tournament, sailboat rides, canoe races and more.
In addition to the traditional native culture and heritage of Red Cliff, the event will also showcase the rich fishing history that permeates the entire southern shore area of Lake Superior.
There will be a locally harvested Lake Superior fish buffet each night and a floating commercial fishing museum.
Scheduled as part of the festivities is an ecologically friendly sky lantern launch on Sept. 1, a “marina boat light up the night” on Sept. 2, and a pancake feed to be held from 7 to 10 a.m. on Sept. 3-4.
Live entertainment includes the Danny Blake & Friends Band, Lords of Baltimore and the Dan Gordon Band.
The event will conclude with a Red Cliff VFW closing ceremony on Labor Day, Sept. 5.
