Pride Fest 2019 Mayors’ Reception
The 33rd annual Pride Festival begins with the traditional Mayors’ Reception. Duluth Mayor Emily Larson and Superior Mayor Jim Paine, along with representatives of the Pride Festival committee will kickoff the weekend with live music by South of Superior, free food from the Boat Club, and free beer from Hoops Brewing. The event takes place along Michigan Street outside, and also in the Depot’s Great Hall.
A brief presentation and speeches from the mayors will take place around 6:05 p.m., followed by an award ceremony to recognize some outstanding volunteers and community members. Many other area leaders such as city council members, county commissioners, college chancellors and others will be at the event to show their support of the Pride Festival.
Josh Miller is the event’s emcee.
The mission of the Duluth Superior Pride Festival is to serve the Duluth-Superior area’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, allied, queer, intersex, and two-spirit community by celebrating its diversity and promoting understanding, education, acceptance, respect, healthy living and loving, self-esteem and equality. Event organizers seek to promote a positive image of the GLBTAQI2S community and to end discrimination based upon sexual orientation or sexual identity.
