National Night Out 2018

Aug 7, 2018, 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Event Navigation

Neighborhoods throughout Duluth join forces with communities nationwide for the 35th annual National Night Out Crime and Drug Prevention events. A list of local gatherings is available at duluthmn.gov/national-night-out.

Piedmont Dental is hosting its fourth annual National Neighborhood Night Out. Famous Dave’s is catering in a pig roast dinner. Last year more than 500 people showed up. The St. Louis County Search & Rescue Squad will be there with the rescue boat to meet everyone and provide information on water safety. Other dignitaries expected to be at the event are the Duluth Fire Department with a rig, Champ the UMD Bulldog’s mascot, neighbors from Viewcrest Health Center serving snow cones, and the youth group at Christ Lutheran Church providing carnival games for children. There will be drawings for door prizes throughout the event. Parking for the event will be in the Residential Services lot on Piedmont Avenue and Ensign Street. Festivities will be in the Piedmont Dental parking lot. The city of Duluth will be closing the upper portion of Ensign Street between the two properties for safety of pedestrians. The remainder of Ensign Street will remain open. Overflow parking will be available at Christ Lutheran Church on Ensign Street and Church Place.

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Duluth Police Department, National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

Neighborhoods throughout Duluth are hosting a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police officers, youth activities and anti-crime rallies.
