Duluth native Marty Essen, now living in Montana, returns to present a short reading, sign books and perform highlights from Around the World in 90 Minutes, a slideshow based on his first book.
Over the past 14 years, Essen has performed his show on hundreds of campuses in 45 states. In his presentation at Fitger’s he will select a few of the most memorable moments from that show, including when he and his wife survived a fierce hippo attack in Zimbabwe.
Essen’s books include: Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents (2007), Endangered Edens: Exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica, the Everglades, and Puerto Rico (2016): Time is Irreverent (2018), Time is Irreverent 2: Jesus Christ, Not Again! (2019) Time is Irreverent 3: Gone for 16 Seconds (2020) and Hits, Heathens, and Hippos: Stories from an Agent, Activist, and Adventurer (2021).
