SUMMARY:Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament 2027
DESCRIPTION:The 32nd annual Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament runs May 28-29 on Island Lake. There is also a virtual division on any lake in North America. Both divisions are a catch\, photo\, release format.  \nRegistration at neversurrenderinc.org is required.  \nIsland Lake participants gather on Friday evening for a dinner at the Ward Wells Field House on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth. Anglers launch on Island Lake Reservoir Saturday morning\, in one of four flights drawn the previous evening. Anglers fish for walleye (6 maximum) and/or bass (5 maximum). Top measurements are awarded\, in addition to a few identified lower measurements. Anglers measure fish using the FishDonkey mobile application designed for this event. \nAnglers participating virtually take to any body of water on Saturday\, fishing for walleye\, bass\, northern pike or crappie. Anglers catching the single largest fish in each species are recognized. There is a random drawing of prizes for anglers submitting measured fish. Anglers in the virtual division also measure fish using the FishDonkey mobile application. \nThe Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament started in 1995 by family and friends of Kevin Kolquist\, who had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Proceeds from the tournament benefit individuals living with ALS and their families. ALS is a progressive neuro-degenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It usually strikes people between the ages of 40-70\, but it can strike anyone at any time. Although there is no cure or treatment yet\, tournament organizers are committed to helping families in need. The Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament board\, anglers\, volunteers and donors are united in Funding the Fight Against ALS.
