Sat, Jun 25, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm | Free | Sampo Beach

Event Navigation

The Finlandia Foundation Northland Chapter invites all interested in Finnish culture to celebrate Finnish Juhannus – Midsummer at Sampo Beach on Little Grand Lake.

This year’s event will be the chapter’s first in-person Juhannus since 2019.

The event will feature traditional and contemporary Finnish activities and games such as mölkky (wooden pin toss game), vihta/vasta (a sauna whisk made out of birch branches) making, music, swimming, a sauna and a campfire.

Coffee, pulla (Finnish cardamom bread) and sima will be available. Attendees may roast their own hot dogs and sausages on the campfire or buy food from the grill trailer on site.

The holiday of Juhannus, or Midsummer, is a national holiday in Finland and is recognized each June with celebrations all over the country.
