SUMMARY:Hummingbirds: What’s not to love?
DESCRIPTION:Lori Walewski\, Naturalist and Hummingbird bander at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center will discuss her work with and interest in hummingbirds. This presentation aims to educate and entertain people of all ages about the life history\, behavior\, attraction of and feeding of hummingbirds\, with a focus on Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. Lori first became involved with banding birds in 1988. For the past 33 summers she has co-run the MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) bird banding station at Wolf Ridge. In 2003 Lori received her master permit to band hummingbirds. While many hummingbirds are seen frequenting her yard\, finding a lichen-clad nest in her yard has continued to escape Lori’s search. \nNo registration required for this free event. \n(Hummingbird in photo handled with proper state and federal banding permits.
