How to Host a Successful Community Sing-Along (And Why!)

Apr 22, 2018, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm | Free | College of Saint Scholastica

Event Navigation

The Rose Ensemble hosts a community workshop titled How to Host a Successful Community Sing-Along (And Why!) Pianist Dan Chouinard and members of the Rose Ensemble will explore the ancient human impulse to sing together and will teach workshop attendees how to plan community sing-along events that appeal to all ages and musical tastes. The musicians will discuss details such as venue, flow, song lyrics, accompaniment, what makes a good sing-along song and how to grow a repertoire of selections for a community sing-along. Attendees will be encouraged to sing at this event. The workshop will take place at the College of Saint Scholastica in the music hall on the fourth floor of Tower Hall.

Following the workshop, several Duluth-area musicians who participated will be invited to join the Rose Ensemble for part of its Senior Residential Facility Tour the following week. The Rose Ensemble
developed its popular program for senior homes after extensive work with ArtSage, an organization based in Minnesota that provides training for artists and arts organizations who work with older adults in a variety of community and care settings.
