SUMMARY:Head of the Lake Master Naturalist Zoom Book Club: Woman\, Watching
DESCRIPTION:Catherine Winter will lead a discussion of Woman\, Watching: Louise de Kiriline Lawrence and the Songbirds of Pimisi Bay by Merilyn Simonds\, a biography of a Swedish aristocrat who survived the Russian Revolution and moved to a remote cabin in Ontario\, where she became an internationally renowned naturalist\, one of the first to track the mid-century decline of songbirds. From the Literary Review of Canada: “A biography that combines de Kiriline Lawrence’s life story with natural history\, science\, and memoir\, becoming in the process a meditation on ways of thinking and being in the natural world…Simonds is a pioneer in the world of creative non-fiction and a wonderful match for her subject.” \nWhether you have read the book or just want to listen to the discussion you are welcome. This Zoom book club is hosted by Cook County Higher Education and offered free of charge\, however registration is required here.
