Duluth Storm Debris Mitigation Volunteer Event
Help Duluth families and individuals affected by the 2016 summer storm by working with Team Rubicon, a rapid response team comprised of veterans who give back to the community following disasters. The team is in need of more volunteers to join them with debris mitigation.
Interested volunteers are to check in by 8 a.m. on Aug. 2 at the Duluth Heights Community Center to be assigned to work teams. Volunteers are encouraged to work for as much of the day as their schedule allows and to check-out from their assignments accordingly. All volunteers, however, must be available to start at 8 a.m.
Assignments will include hauling tree and brush material which include bending, stooping, heavy lifting and walking on uneven terrain. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and safety glasses, if available. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Dress for the weather, wear sunscreen and bug protectant.
Pre-registration is encouraged, as there is only capacity for 25 volunteers to help with this project. To reserve a spot call 218-730-4334 or email cskafte @ duluthmn.gov.
