Duluth Catalyst Content Festival Preview

The University of Minnesota Duluth is hosting an event to preview the Catalyst Content Festival, which is coming to Duluth Oct. 9-13. UMD’s event will be held in Montague Hall 80. Refreshments will be served after the event.

UMD Chancellor Lendley Black and School of Fine Arts Dean Robert Kase are welcoming Catalyst Executive Director Philip Gilpin, who will talk about the festival and present a video preview of highlights from this year’s lineup.

The work of UMD Associate Professor Joellyn Rock’s student videographers will also be shown at the preview event. Students from the UMD Film Studies program have been working with Catalyst to provide video of potential filming locations for Catalyst’s online Production Guide. The guide, which is offered in print as well as online, lists locations, talent, film-related businesses and hundreds of local vendors.

UMD’s Film Studies Program is part of the Department of Theater. Students study the art of filmmaking, a history of film and how film connects to society. Students focus on specific aspects of film, ranging from film genres to photography to screenwriting.

The 14th annual Catalyst Content Festival will be held at several locations in Downtown Duluth, including Zeitgeist and the Norshor Theatre. Previously known as Independent TV Festival, the Catalyst Content Festival showcases independently produced TV shows and podcasts to industry executives, agents and producers.
