DSSO Masterworks VII: Copland & Beethoven
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra closes its season with a celebration of singing.
From Jessie Montgomery’s exploration of the U.S. anthem, Banner, the show moves to Copland’s classic Old American Songs. Beethoven’s towering Symphony No.9, ending with the iconic “Ode to Joy.”
Featuring the DSSO, the DSSO Chorus and a quartet of vocal soloists, the performance marks the end of the DSSO’s Beethoven Project. This undertaking started in 2016 and included the performance and recording of all of Beethoven’s nine symphonies, in collaboration with Minnesota Public Radio.
Bill Bastian presents a pre-concert prelude talk at 6:10 p.m. to the left of the main lobby in the harbor side arena walkway.
