Event Navigation

Deep Listening sessions at Waterstop are for slowing down, grounding and practicing musical improvisation. The listening meditations, movement and music improvisations are facilitated by Jess Morgan, who walks attendees through the parameters for each exercise.

Deep Listening is, in Pauline Oliveros’s words, “a way of listening in every possible way to everything possible, to hear no matter what you are doing.” More information about Deep Listening can be found at deeplistening.rpi.edu. Sessions are open to individuals of all experience levels, abilities and ages. No instruments or materials are needed while attending the events.
Meditations repeat Wednesdays except for the third Wednesday every month.

Jess Morgan is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. More information about Morgan can be found on their website at Jesscribe.com or their Instagram, @Jesscribe.the.vibe.

The event is free, but any donations or tips during the event go towards supporting Waterstop Infoshop. To learn more about Waterstop and how to support this small arts venue, visit www.emergentseas.org/waterstop.
