The Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial Committee was hoping to ask for more than 10,000 community members and visitors to join in honoring Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie at the intersection where they were lynched by a mob in 1920. The COVID-19 pandemic, however has led the committee to postpone the major elements of the commemoration until June of 2021.
Virtual events, however, are taking place.
