Rubber Chicken Theater stagea the musical Carrie from June 20-22 and 27-29.
Carrie tells the story of misfit Carrie White. At school, she’s an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it.
Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Carrie hasn’t been seen since its legendary 1983 Broadway production. After that, the show’s original authors collaborated with several artists to create a newly reworked vision of the tale. Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment) and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose.)
The musical is directed by Rubber Chicken Theater veteran Nathan Payne and features Kelly Killorin as Carrie White and Rebecca Farmer as Carrie’s mother, Margaret. The show is being debuted to the Twin Ports through the sponsorship of Horror Rewind and Perfect Duluth Day.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students. They are available by calling 218-733-7555 or at vendini.com.
