Glensheen’s Candlelight Christmas Tours and Spirit of the Lights outdoor light display are offered on select nights until Dec. 31.
On the guided Candlelight Christmas Tours, each group is accompanied by two guides who illuminate pieces throughout the house. Glensheen requests guests do not bring their own flashlights. The cost is $25 for adults, $23 for senior citizens and military veterans, $13 for ages 6-17 and free for UMD students and children ages 5 and under. Candlelight Christmas Tour ticket holders are welcome to enter anytime from 5 to 8 p.m. on the date purchased. Onsite ticket purchases end at 7:30 p.m. Estimate tour time is one hour. Candlelight Christmas Tours end at 8 p.m.; Spirit of the Lights continues until 9 p.m.
Spirit of the Lights is an outdoor light display that originated on Park Point at the home of Marcia Hales. The display is celebrated for its intimate and natural feel. Many of the motifs and displays are in memory of individuals or in recognition of meaningful moments. The display sprawls across Glensheen’s 12-acre lakeside estate, illuminating the grounds. It is free to attend the outdoor Spirit of the Lights display. Due to health and safety precautions, cider and cookies will not be offered this year. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink to enjoy on the estate.
