Bemidji-based author Barbara Schlichting travels to Duluth to promote The Broken Circle, a novel inspired by one of Minnesota’s most high-profile crimes. It’s the story of a group of childhood friends brought back together by the untimely death of one of their mutual friends. While reminiscing about warm-hearted Margo, Nancy, Judy and Sharon reflect back on another mutual loss. They collectively make the decision that the time has come to figure out what happened to Vicky, who disappeared without a trace the night of their senior prom.
The story was inspired by the 1989 disappearance of Jacob Wetterling. The St. Joseph boy’s body was finally located in Paynesville, Minn. in 2016.
During the event, the author will both do a reading and sign books.
Schlicting was born and raised in Minneapolis. In addition to The Broken Circle, she also wrote the First Lady Mystery series of books, which blend American history with modern-day mystery.
