SUMMARY:Chester Bowl Fall Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 42nd annual Chester Bowl Fall Fest features 135 vendors displaying arts\, crafts\, produce and information about local programs\, along with 15 food venders\, live music and activities for children.  \nSuggested donations of $5 per person or $10 per family are accepted at the entrance to support Chester Bowl’s scholarship program\, supporting low-income children and families who want to ski\, snowboard or attend summer camp but aren’t able to afford the registration fees. Last year the community supported Chester Bowl with $12\,250 in donations. That funding — along with a silent auction and Warren Miller film screening in November — enabled Chester Bowl to award $22\,882 in winter scholarships to more than 100 different families and to support more than 150 weeks of camp with $31\,784 in scholarships in summer 2026.  \nThe public is encouraged to use the three free shuttle buses that run continuously from the University of Minnesota Duluth parking lot B\, located at the intersection of College Street and University Drive. Parking is very limited near the event\, so walking\, biking or using the shuttles is highly recommended. There are a limited number of handicapped accessible parking spots near the entrance to the park. \nThe rain date is Sunday\, Sept. 20\, with the same hours.

WLSSD has partnered with Duluth Folk School and Duluth Makerspace to host regular events where people can learn how to fix their stuff. Volunteers specialize in a variety of repair skills\, including electronics and small appliances\, woodworking and furniture\, watches and jewelry\, clothing and upholstery\, sports and outdoor gear\, ceramics\, artwork and more. \nPeople can sign up in advance to be paired with a skilled volunteer or volunteer their skills to help fix other folks’ stuff. DESCRIPTION:Duluth River Train excursions on the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad depart at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 18. The two-hour rail journey is a round trip along the St. Louis River estuary. It is a family-friendly\, volunteer-run event. \nThe narrated tour takes passengers along the original Lake Superior & Mississippi line in vintage coaches\, sharing the history of the community and its industries.  \nThe train ride can be paired with other outdoor activities along the estuary. The Choo-Choo Paddle Kayak Shuttle is an opportunity to paddle the National Water Trail. Passengers can also bring a bike to hit the scenic Marten Trail before or after the rail journey.  \nAll excursions depart from the ticket office at 6930 Fremont St. in West Duluth. Tickets are $26.20 for adults\, $12 for children ages 5-12 and free for ages 4 and under. Military veterans ride free on Sundays. \nRiders should arrive 20–30 minutes early for check-in. Snacks and refreshments are available onboard (cash only). Restrooms are available on the train. Due to their historic nature\, the vintage coaches are not wheelchair accessible.

DESCRIPTION:The Clover Valley Farm Trail is a co-operative group of locally-owned\, small farms located in or near Clover Valley\, a farming community between Duluth and Two Harbors. The farms offer a variety of produce\, plant seedlings\, baked goods\, crafts and other items sold from self-serve farm stands. Visitors can simply follow the map and posted directional signs to find each farm. Event organizers have described the trail as a place\, “where a farmers market meets a Sunday drive.”  \nThe 2026 Farm Trail season continues through early-October. DESCRIPTION:With midterm elections approaching\, the Duluth League of Women Voters invites the public to its Fall Kickoff. The program offers a look at the organization’s plans to inform voters\, encourage participation in the election process and follow public-policy issues during the coming year. \nKathy Heltzer is serving as emcee for the evening. Sue DeNio will begin with a 10-minute overview of voter services and the league’s work to help community members become informed and prepared voters. \nThe remaining speakers are limited to one minute each. These fast-paced introductions highlight the observer program\, advocacy actions\, the legislative roundtable\, Women of Influence\, Sisters Book Club\, Signs of Fascism and the league’s largest fundraiser\, its annual plant and book sale. \nThe kickoff is open to longtime members\, new members and anyone interested in learning more about voting\, public-policy issues and participation in local democracy. The league is nonpartisan and does not support or oppose political parties or candidates. Attendees do not need to be league members or experts on government. Anyone who wants to become a more informed and involved voter is welcome. \nSnacks and beverages will be served\, and attendees will have opportunities to meet league members and learn how to get involved. \nThe League of Women Voters is a political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
