Ayurvedic Chimichurri Cauliflower Rice Bowl with Squash Cooking Class

This event has been canceled due to a lack of snow. AICHO hosts their annual Aadizookaan Winter Storytelling event. The event features traditional Ojibwe creation stories told by Michael (Migizi) Sullivan, Ph.D. and Hannah (Niigaanibinesiik) Orie. Stories of Weneboozhoo, a historical and spiritual icon of the Ojibwe and Anishinaabeg, will be told in Ojibwe and translated into English. Sanctus Series: The Rosary Sonatas
Erin Aldridge, violinist, and Rachael Kresha, organist, perform three of Heinrich Biber's Rosary Sonatas that tell the story of Jesus's crown of thorns, carrying the cross, and crucifixion. These sonatas were completed around 1676, but were published in the 19th century. The works feature violin solos accompanied by organ continuo. Freewill offerings are accepted at the event, but are not required.

The East Duluth Catholic Parishes are hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament at Stella Maris High School to raise funds for their youth's summer retreat opportunities. There is a youth division for students ages 11-15 and an adult division for individuals ages 15+. Registration for the youth division is $45/team and the adult division is $60/team. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary is presenting the profound beauty of the Tenebrae Service. Tenebrae, Latin for darkness or shadows, sets the contemplative tone for this sacred evening. Named after "Tenebrae factae sunt," the service reflects on the darkness during Jesus' crucifixion, weaving spiritual reflection through poignant music. The cathedral choir, organist, soloists and the schola ensemble will lead a moving experience of song, scripture and prayer.

Ecstatic dance is free-form movement inspired by music. The Ecstatic Dance Duluth group holds dances on the second Friday and last Sunday of each month. Ethnomusicologist Dr. Elyse Carter Vosen explores the sounds, spiritual purposes and social force of Avodat Lev (roughly translated as "work of the heart"). Avodat Lev is a recently-developed form of intimate, imaginative and contemplative Jewish prayer service made up of song, chant, meditation and poetry as an outgrowth of the Jewish farming movement.
