Elly Tveita’s Senior Composition Recital
A student of Dr. Justin Rubin, UMD Theory and Composition Major, Elly Tveita, performs alongside other UMD music students in her senior recital. The program entirely consists of music composed by Elly. Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota Duluth, she has played with the UMD Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and her piece Ice Caverns has been performed by the UMD Chamber Orchestra both in Minnesota and abroad in Trinidad. JAM Concert Series presents No Comment for a night of music at Wussow's Concert Café. No Comment is an instrumental jazz/funk ensemble based in Duluth, MN. The group features Marshall Dillon on guitar, Calvin “Calzone” Lund on the big guitar, Sten Duginski on several drums, Kevin Gamble on at least a few keys, and Jacob Burkhart on trumpet. The Hot Club of Duluth plays the jazz music of the roaring '20s -- from melancholy torch songs to the hot jazz of Django Reinhardt to Duke Ellington. The quartet is composed of Eli Bissonett on violin, Veikko Lepisto on standup bass, and Jimi Cooper and Darin Bergsven on guitars. Classic silent films are screened during the performances.
