Strikepoint, Duluth’s internationally-acclaimed handbell ensemble, presents their holiday concert, “A Bell Noël: Ringing in the Holidays.” Organist Velda Graham Bell, flutist Melanie Sever and a string quartet join Strikepoint. Strikepoint rings 6-plus octaves of bronze Schulmerich handbells with additional Malmark aluminum bells, 7 octaves of handchimes, 2 octaves of Silver Melody Bells, 3 octaves of Petit & Fritzen handbells and a variety of other instruments. Western Lake Superior Sanitary District and area partners kick off the annual Treecycling program on Dec. 21. The free holiday tree recycling program offers multiple drop-off locations throughout the region. Holiday trees, like other yard and garden waste, are banned from the landfill in Minnesota. Trees contain valuable resources that can be reclaimed through Treecycling. Collected trees will be ground up and composted by WLSSD, saving landfill space while safely managing invasive species that may have been brought in on…

Jólabókaflód is an Icelandic word (meaning "holiday book flood") and tradition that originated during World War II. Paper was one of the few unrationed commodities during the war, making books one of the few gifts available during the winter holidays. The Duluth Public Library celebrates this tradition with free books, crafts, live music and cultural presentations. Michelle’s Lefse Truck and the Underwood Coffee cart will be serving food and beverages for purchase.

Residents of Duluth, Superior and Hermantown are eligible.
