DESCRIPTION:Erickson Orchard in Bayfield is donating all apples picked by volunteers to Second Harvest Northland. Sign up is not required — volunteers can just head to the orchard during open hours\, Monday through Saturday\, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, and Sunday\, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, for this volunteer opportunity. \nVolunteers must be able to stand\, lift and carry\, and must provide their own transportation to and from the orchard. The guild’s mission is to foster and contribute to the arts and crafts of the greater community through education and encouragement\, and to develop a high standard in the art and technique of needlework.

DESCRIPTION:During this class participants will learn the basics of cutting dovetail joints by hand. \nThe project used to teach dovetail joints will be a small 3×5 recipe card or keepsake box. The sides will be dovetailed together\, the bottom glued on and the flat top will be screwed on with hinges. Some decorative elements will be done with time permitting. \nNo work with power tools will be required by the students. As a prerequisite\, students should already be comfortable sawing and chopping by hand.
