This raven has a sad story. He was hopping around on the ground as a fledgling when he was “saved” by well-meaning people, who then kept him in their chicken coop for the next 2 months. They finally brought him in after they released him and he just sat in a tree for 2 days, because he had no idea what to do.

Wildwoods Rehabilitation was at Cruise A Palooza last Friday just off Central Entrance. The Great Lakes Aquarium (our partners in many projects) joined us with some herpetological critters for kiddies to meet, greet, and pet.
Games, comics and action figures are available at Rogue Robot Comics and Games, which celebrated their grand opening last week.
The Slow Motion exhibit at Prøve was a puzzler for me, initially. The pieces were, as always, dynamic and transformative.
My wife had her first orthodontal consult, which began with “we’ll remove these three healthy teeth…”
It made me think I could use some PDD hive mind recommendations and maybe some first person accounts. Help?
The show at the Duluth Photography Institute, by Kip Praslowicz, reminds me of how many filters I bring to the viewing of photography. I look at some of these images and I feel like I have seen life caught in action — akin to the Muybridge photos that helped us understand what photography could see that painting could not. I look at others and think: the people in the shot have paused for the creation of art. The photos, in the second case, are closer to portraiture.

There is a lost or abandoned little cub in the Arrowhead/Swan Lake Road area. If you spot him, call Kelly asap at 218-591-2967, while not letting him out of your sight. Kelly and a vet will come out immediately to dart and catch him. We need to catch this guy soon; he’s tiny and has been without mom for more than 24 hours; he won’t survive for much longer without help. Thanks!

The Materialistic Intentions show at Prøve Collective opened tonight. Prøve is at a critical juncture.
Adam Brisk, Crystal Pelkey, and Jeremy Nilson are among the engines that make Duluth a more interesting place. As founders of Duluth Nerd Nite, they serve up entertainment on a regular basis that also helps sustain one of our most important resources, the Teatro Zuccone. And they have been invited to consult in Minneapolis, a town that has yet to experience awesomeness that is Nerd Nite.
At the next event, Saturday at 7:30, they are bringing a new dimension to Nerd Nite:
I listened to Emily Haavik from a window on the parking lot at the Chester Creek Cafe / Sara’s Table / Whatever They Call It. It was standing room only, all the way out the back of the wine bar, so Paul Lundgren and I went outside, where the windows were popped open, creating a straight line of sight, a warm breeze from the inside, and an opportunity to hear someone whose voice was really just a shortcut to her heart.
I spent part of Saturday at the Open House for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, just at the top of the hill.
