Does anybody know of anyone roasting locally besides Duluth Coffee Company and Alakef?
There are a few others in the region, but specifically in Duluth there are Almanac and the Alakef spinoff City Girl.
Can you elucidate on the others? I'm not finding much online. Ultimately, we're looking for micro- and hyper-local. A couple of years ago at the Duluth Farmer's Market, there was someone from Duluth selling single-origin roasted beans...
None of this is likely what you are looking for, but there is ARCO in Superior, Fika in Grand Marais, and Midwest Roasters in Hayward.
There is also Kickapoo in Bayfield, but the roastery is in Viroqua, about 280 miles south of Bayfield.
Oh, at one time there was Deeps Coffee, but that doesn't seem to exist anymore.
MICRO and HYPER local? My dad roasts in his back yard, I suppose if you stopped by he'd give you some :D
Duluth Coffee is definitely doing single origin. A few of their batches are done on the "small" roaster. If you want a custom roast they might do it if you ask nicely!
That newish Dovetail Cafe in Lincoln Park has a nice little roaster.
Nordic Jo's Coffee is a one-Duluthian operation roasted on Park Point. They have a new fair trade line and are committed to charitable giving. They're online at nordicjoscoffee.com.
