Kickapoo Coffee will replace Big Water in Bayfield

Business North reports that Kickapoo Coffee will open this summer at 117 Rittenhouse Ave. in Bayfield. It’s the former location of Big Water Coffee Roasters, which closed the coffee shop last fall and slowly wound down coffee roasting operations in the following months.

Founded in 2005, Kickapoo Coffee’s roastery is in Viroqua, about 280 miles south of Bayfield, near La Crosse. The Bayfield shop will be the company’s third cafe; the other two are in Milwaukee and Viroqua.

Business North notes two of Kickapoo’s co-owners, TJ and Denise Semanchin, own property on Madeline Island and are friends of Danielle and Jon Ewalt, who founded Big Water in 2007.

Is there any reasoning why Big Water closed? It has been very hush and silence and confusing. A huge disappointment since they had gathered a large following of coffee drinkers! I love their coffee! 😢
