Grandma’s Marathon 2017 Double: The Thundering Herd

Once again, Eric Strand embarked on the 52.4-mile journey from the finish line to the starting line and back to the finish line of Grandma’s Marathon. The annual video is usually released in June, but hey, it’s not a race, it’s a marathon … an ultra-marathon.

Strand notes in his YouTube video description:

Coming off a busted hip a few months prior, I really needed this run as a ramp up to Western States and Leadville 100. I knew my son, Zach, would be joining me for the 52.4-mile jaunt up and down the shores of Lake Superior … but we didn’t expect the finish/start line to be quite so crowded at 2:30 a.m.! Eight started and eight finished the double … a new record. Join us for the seventh annual Grandma’s Marathon Double starting at the finish line — 2:30 a.m., Saturday, June 16.
