Message to H. S. Townsend of Plainfield, Iowa, postmarked July 7, 1911:

Dear cousin,

Was quite surprised to get your card but very glad. Do so again. We reached here in fine style. The trip was fine. Crops look dandy. How is the tailor?

That looks nearly exactly like the Dewitt-Seitz building (I assumed it was at first) but can't be based on location. Same blueprints?

It is indeed a dead ringer for the DeWitt-Seitz building ... and the buildings across the street kind of make the whole strip look like a very skewed perspective of modern day Lake Avenue.

But the building in the postcard is F.  A. Patrick & Co., 302 S. Fifth Ave. W. 

The F. A. Patrick Co. building was designed by William Hunt and went up in 1903. The DeWitt-Seitz building was designed by John Wangenstein and went up in 1911.
