The Chef is my friend Nick...There's nothing like heading up to the BW with thus guy. These fall trips usually consist of lots of eating, risk and beer...

Nice food! For some reason my Greek yogurt is just not appealing to me today.

Serious question... Do you guys normally haul that kind of cooking equipment and food out there?

I always envisioned a bunch of Mountain House pouches (or some kinda MRE equivalent).

There are, of course, as many ways to travel the BWCA as there are people who go there. If you are base-camping with day trips, the idea of a heavy pack-in with lots of fresh food and cookware is not a terrible idea. If you are packing and moving maximum distance every day then absolutely you pack light and minimize weight as much as possible.

I, personally, am somewhere in the middle. Hate MRE type food, and except for the first night out generally minimize the heavy water content food... fluctuates depending on specific trip factors.

Les, yeah. That and more.

Nick, P. Helstrom, S. Boberg, myself and a rotating cast of others would hit the lakes the week of Halloween every year for our fall classic BWCA expototions, we carried in at least 70# of food, a couple of pony kegs of Brewhouse beer, at least one risk set, cribbage boards ... two dutch ovens, flat griddle, teakettle.

The fall trips were about paddling in, setting up, sitting down eating campfire smoke, drinking beer and eating for a week.

Our overland excursions are much lighter and portable. No room for a lot of extras.
