Does anyone know the situation regarding drinking tap water in Duluth/Superior are the flooding? Have there been any advisories regarding contamination?

I was wondering about the water. I have heard of bottled water donations being collected at car dealerships in the cities and in southeastern Minnesota for Duluth.

What about the general quality of the lake water? Is there a resource to find out the levels of any contaminents/bacteria of the beaches? My dog and I are eager to go to the beach but are very reluctant.

I second glance many of those beaches haven't been tested since before the flood. I was at the picnic area at Gooseberry S.P. yesterday and there is no way I would have waded in that water. I have never seen Lake Superior so murky and it smelled bad. My buddy said he heard a no contact advisory from Duluth to Hovland. I can't find the link but I think a wait-a-while-before-swimming approach is best for now.

Yes, there's an advisory from Duluth to Hovlund. My Golden Retriever is not happy at all, but it's for the best. I'd wait for an explicit "all clear."

This just in:

The Minnesota Department of Health has informed the City of Duluth that Park Point Beach water is safe for swimming. As of June 26 the Park Point Beach House and beach will be open.
