Check out his crazy plant growin in Hartly. Like no chlorophil man. Found it on the internet. http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=677( I stole the photo)

What's weird is that this popped up about a week ago in my Chicago backyard. I thought it was mushrooms at first. Like the other people on the link it was under the canopy of our tree in cedar mulch. Weird!

Indian Pipe. Very cool stuff. Actually is a parasite. I've never seen it up north-- used to see it all the time in southern Wisconsin where I grew up. Here's a wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotropa_uniflora

You can see this fairly often in deciduous woods-- I've seen it up in woods near Sugarloaf and over at Itasca State Park. Your photo is great!

Indian pipe! I've found it in Lester Park, too.
