Thanks for the post in.dog. I had nearly forgotten how amazing Buddy Rich was. His crazy-fast one-stroke rolls and innovative cymbal work are the things I remembered but I had forgotten how his sense of dynamics and drama really set him apart from the rest. I saw Buddy live at a young age (band camp)and thought that he was the most amazing thing since the high-hat. Later, when I was in college, I got tickets to see him at my school but, alas, it was not to be. Buddy passed from this earth between his last show and the the time that he was scheduled to appear at my university. (Was it really 20 years ago?) RIP Buddy Rich.
