The Jaunt is Upon Us

As warned in a previous post, Nonchalant Jaunt V is this Saturday, Sept. 15.

For no apparent purpose, a group of grown adults with nothing better to do will walk from one end of Minnesota Point to the other and back, perhaps encountering random adventures along the way, but certainly becoming more self-actualized by the end.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The NorthShore Inline Marathon will also be taking place on Saturday, so don't expect to be able to enter Canal Park by automobile. Park somewhere downtown if you need to drive at all, then walk to the gathering point.

We'll meet at the lighthouse at the end of the pier on the Canal Park side of the canal at 10 a.m. The jaunt will cross the Aerial Lift Bridge, follow the shore to the end of the point, traverse a rocky breakwater and return through the Park Point Nature Trail and probably twist and turn in unpredicatable ways. You'll want to pack a lunch; this could take a few hours.

The only rule: "Don't be a hero." (Unless your the kind of hero that brings Thunder Cookies for everyone.)

Comments

As per typical to other jaunts, I am cursed with a prior commitment that Saturday.
Maybe in 2045...

The Fray in the Bay regatta will be starting at 11AM that morning. The boats will sail from Barkers Island red bouy (it think) to the DECC and back. It should make for a nice vista on the bay.

THIS SATURDAY! That came up quick. Little Pirate has a swim lesson in the morning, so we may miss this year's jaunt.

So not only will you walk the length of the Point and back, you'll also get there by walking from Downtown? Nonchalant my ass!

Yessss!!!! This Saturday we will be off like a herd of turtles at daybreak!!!!

So Bayuk you're going to celebrate the first weekend w/o a scheduled lit drop since April by taking a big long walk? I do admire your boundless energy.

Mind if a new girl joins you? New to Duluth, new to you, new to walking... just kidding. I'm really attracted to the NONchalant part!

Well, the NONchalant part is somewhat debatable. Some would call it chalant to walk 10 miles. (Take Chris, for example.) Our pace, however, will be nonchalant. So, yeah A., bring it on!

Sorry to disappoint Chris. I just got called into work and will be using the first non scheduled lit weekend to deliver furniture. But rest assured I will be in full on training for next years jaunt!!!

Actually Nick it's probably for the best you had to work. The Jaunt is actually a bit of a scam. The whole reason for the long distance and slow pace is so Lungren can try and sell you Amway and Herbalife products. That poor girl, new to our fair city, is in for a long day.
