Hmmm.. sounds like an HCIS student project for next year .... hmmmm

baci,

I strongly and lazily encourage you encourage your students to create a local currency. Please!

There's a group of local folks who have been working with a barter system of local currency they call "zukes" (for zuchinis) for a couple of years. Contact Will Rhodes or Deb Shubat for some info.

I've been trying to implement the service industry / Rock & Roll mason ring discount for years.

My hometown has Rosybucks. They used to trade $1-1 Rosybuck. Promotes local trade.

I think it is a great idea. In fact, perhaps we can ban all items from grocery and retail distributors that are not recyclable. Take cigarettes for example. There would be instantly companies built for addressing the market. Local recyclable cigarettes.

We could band all superfluous packaging as well. It would be an amazing eco-boycott, only it would try to be positive, give the companies a few months to comply.

Things would change. California had electric cars at a time. Some silly local law made the companies provide electric cars. They did so reluctantly, but did so nonetheless.

I'm into saving the planet or building a huge spaceship.

Who's in!
