Don't turn around...uh oh...

Der Kommissar's in town...uh oh...

Tamara's post about tv show tunes got me started thinking about those pesky pop songs that get inextricably wedged in the front of your mind...songs like "The Hustle" or "Close To You" or "Rock and Roll part 2."

Right now, the dagger in my mind has been...Der Kommissar...

What's that tune you can't seem to shake, no matter how much you drink?

A couple summers ago I was strolling with my kids and, as I was asking them to stay close to me as we walked down a busy street, I broke into "Close to You." My kids are used to me making up silly songs on the spot and they assumed that this was one of them. I told them no, this was an actual song that was recorded and was, once, very popular.

My daughter, Emma, thinks the line about birds suddenly appearing is just creepy.

Well thanks to the post a few days ago I've had the Mr. Belvidere theme song in my head.

Those birds that suddenly appear are vultures.

the other day the current played "connected" by stereo mc's. (i have no idea why) it will now be stuck in my head for another 2 months.

although i did just pull out some old cd's and i'm currently trying to replace connected with rock lobster.

to the left, to the right, keep it goin keep it going alright.

When Little Pirate was at the "why" stage, I used to sing him the "birds"line from "Close to You."

(LP & purple in grocery store)
LP: Why are they called groceries?...Why is it called maccoroni?..Why do I have to sit in the cart"

PURPLE:(sings) "Why do birds suddenly appear, everytime you are near?"

People would laugh, LP would stop asking why.
Now the friggen song is again in my head.
Thanks, Ironic1.

Sorry, Ironic1, I should be thanking InDog instead. And now "Rock me Amadeus" is in my head. Thanks again, InDog!!

I'll see your "Rock me Amadeus" and rais you a "Jabba on the Dais".

"Meomena" (the old muppet song). Once it's in, only shock treatments will remove it. Awful, awful, awful.

thanks gwanto...i was waiting for someone to pull that one out.

Did you know that was the first song on the very first episode of the Muppet Show? No? You do now.

Doo doo di doo doo.

yeah, i did.

menamena.

Oh Ironic and Mule, too funny. I have nothing to raise, but have one more song to sing:
"Oh Mickey, your so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!"

i'm placing "Pac Man Fever" on the table

Thanks to my kids and The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd I just got a new song stuck in my head and perhaps my new most favoritest Thanksgiving song ever.

Whether or not it's actually true, "Menomena" was supposedly... orginally a song in a Swedish porno movie. Read all too much at http://www.geocities.com/pieroumiliani/

Hmmmmmm.

I am a lineman for the county!!
